SATURDAY MORNING UPDATES:
Good morning from Cecil County Dragway. With beautiful sunny skies overhead and high temps of only80 degrees the racing action promises to be absolutely insane here at the YellowBullet Nationals. Many racers ae unloading their cars and preparing for the drivers meeting. Quite a few tested yesterday and even in the heat laid out some very stout numbers.
Most of the attention is on the well being of Chuck Ulsch after his 200 plus mph crash on the top end in testing. Chuck was out of the car before crews got to him but he was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Word is this morning that Chuck is out of the hospital and ” A OK “. It is truly a testament to the how well built his car was and hopefully we will see him back on track very soon.
As the action prepares to unfold the track crews are working feverishly to prep the track and get ready for first round of qualifying at 12 noon. Racers are also preparing and there is plenty of meet and greet going on between all the YellowBullet members.

Eric Kenward made the trek from Florida to compete in 275 Drag Radial. MORE FROM THE PITS:Al Marlow is locked and loaded with his big block nitrus combination in 275 Drag Radial.
Racers are still rolling in and the crowd is growing by the minute. Word from the tower right now is that we have 40 cars registered in Outlaw 10.5 right now. This will easily create a outstanding 32 car field for eliminations. Many racers were at other track competing last night and drove through the night to get to the Inagural YellowBullet Nationals. in about an hour the first round of qualifying will get under way starting with the very popular 8.50 Index. Be back later with all the round updates.
ROUND 1 UPDATES:
8.5o Index
Round one was packed full of excitement from start to finish. The track is in excellent condition and has proven so with quite a few awesome wheelstands. 8.5o Index kicked things off and with the likes of Harry Gerb, Mike Pyott and John Langer in attendance anything can happen. It was Pyott out to the early lead with an impressive run.
7.50 Index:
Only seven cars came out to do battle in 7.50 Index but there are some true heavy hitters in this field. John Schroder is taking the number one spot after qualifying in round one.
Outlaw 10.5
29 cars made the call for first round of qualifying. All eyes were peeled on Tim Lynch and the Proline Racing crew. They took the number one spot with a 4.22 @ 185mph. Mo Hall with his new Fulton powerplant took the number two spot. Tommy Mauro rounds out the top sixteen with a 4.67.
275 Drag Radial
In an astounding field of 275 cars there were 30 cars that are taking the shot at the bounty on Chris Evans. Just about every combination imaginable is in this field and we will have to wait and see who comes out on top but right now ther is a nitrous car out front. Steve Thompson races with the NMRA in his Mustang but he is putting a hurting in the field today with his Mustang. Don Barnett also posted a personal best with a 5.09 @ 140mph.
Outlaw Drag Radial:
It is a battle of Limited Street versus Drag Radial as the boys from Georgia showed up in the Berry’s Mustang. Eric Dillard marched right to the front of the pack to take the number one spot with a 4.65 @ 172mph. Ricky Fox is behind the wheel of his wild flamed Mustang and sits in the number three spot right now. Brett Hull rounds out the top eight with a 4.90 @ 154 in his brand new SN95 Mustang.
Round 2 Qualifying:
8.50 Index
After the second round of qualifying in 8.50 Index an announcement was made that there will be a 32 car field. How about a top four qualifiers inside of 8.507 seconds and the top sixteen qualifiers have reaction times no worse than .045. Harry Gerb and Ali Buscio made a big move into the top two with identical 8.501 runs with .001 reaction times.
7.50 Index:
Michael Ingrossio made the biggest jump in this round moving up to number three in his Oldsmobile Cutlass. His 7.529 second run will keep him in the show.
Outlaw 10.5:
Quite a few racers made a big move with “Jersey” Joe Newsham ran a career best and moving into the number two spot with a 4.286 @ 178mph. Tim Lynch remained number one but drove through tire shake. Another huge jump was “Smokin” Joe Schroeder moving up to number three with a 4.319 second elapsed time.
275 Drag Radial:
What a wild round with the competitors stepping it up and many finding out what dragging the bumper feels like. Chris Evnas just made the bullseye on the side of his car much bigger when he moved into the number one position with a 4.95 @ 144mph. Don Barnett also continued to improve on his effort with another great pass to hold onto his number two position. For eliminations this will be a 32 car field.
Outlaw Drag Radial:
Eric Dillard held onto his number one spot and is followed closely by Dave Hinzman and Buddy Tippett. Chris Little made an impressive pass to move up to number four with a 4.751 second elapsed time. John Balinsky had a violent top end crash but emerged from the car unscaved. Hope we see John back another day in his Cutlass from On A Budget Motorsports.
Round 3 Qualifying:
With a lot of hype round three of qualifying come to a conclusion. As the aire temperature dropping steadily the track conditions only improve on what they have been all day. Wheelstands are what we seen and are bringing to all our loyal viewers.
8.50 Index:
The top four qualifiers held onto their positions but not easily as the rest of the competition stepped up to get in the 32 car field.
7.50 Index:
7.50 Index remained the same for the last qualifier and one of the regulars here at Cecil County struggled to get things together. Charlie Micallif has had problems keeping the car running and will be at the bottom of the field for tomorrow and will most likely thrash through the night to get things straight.
Outlaw 10.5:
The Proline powered Corvette of Tim Lynch remained at the top of the field but the likes of Jim Monson and Bill Lutz were charging hard to try and move up in the field. Anthony Dissomma rounds out the top 16 but all 32 will race on Sunday.
275 Drag Radial:
Wheelstands, wheelstands, wheelstands. There is not much more to say about this round but several racers continued to better themselves in qualifying and tighten up the field. Don Barnett worked his way into the number three spot with a 5.044 @ 143mph which is a career best in the Vortech motivated Firebird.

Dale Handy and the "Moneypit" Mustang wowed the crowd and received a standing ovation the return road.
Outlaw Drag Radial:
It is a 5.074 bump for the 16 car field in Outlaw Drag Radial. Florida native Mel Nelson in his Camaro sat on the bump and made the field as they struggled to get down track. Francis Johnson made the big move to the number three spot with a 4.699 in his nitrous assisted Firebird.
We will be back early tomorrow morning for a wild day of eliminations.
