BROWN, CAPPS, ANDERSON WIN ON MONDAY AT EPPING
Antron Brown and Ron Capps made it a double-up day for Don Schumacher Racing at the rain-postponed New England Nationals in Epping on Monday, while Greg Anderson won for the fourth time this season.

It was a banner day for Don Schumacher Racing on Monday at the rain-postponed New England Nationals in Epping, New Hampshire, as Antron Brown captured Top Fuel honors over Steve Torrence, 3.76 to 3.77, while Ron Capps earned his second win of the season with a 3.92-second defeat of teammate Tommy Johnson Jr.. And in Pro Stock, Greg Anderson captured his fourth victory of the season and kept KB Racing undefeated on the year, downing Allen Johnson in the finale, 6.59 to 6.67.

Chevrolet Performance Nationals
The annual Chevrolet Performance Nationals was contested at the Atlanta Dragway over the weekend, and despite significant changes in the event schedule to circumvent a wet weather system, race officials were able to crown event champions as planned, albeit a full day early. In LSX Drag Radial, veteran Mark Carlyle cranked off a 4.84 to take down Paul Falcon’s 5.62 in the finale, while in Real Street, George Toll carded a 7.69-second defeat of Jessie Coulter. In the NMCA’s Chevrolet Performance Stock class, Glenn Pushis motored his COPO Camaro past Kevin Lumsden, 10.38 to 10.43.

The NHRA’s Southeast Division Lucas Oil Series contested its fifth event of the season Sunday at the all-new GALOT Motorsports Park in North Carolina, where Jenny Treadwell headed up the list of winners with her victory in Competition Eliminator. Treadwell was a stellar .005 on the tree and was never headed by opponent Van Puckett. In Super Stock, Kevin Riner pushed Ronnie Courtney under the dial at the stripe for the win, while Jeff Longhany did the same in Stock, bettering Cody Phillips at the tree and forcing him into a breakout run.

Brandon Booher won his second event of the young season at the Burndown at Sundown NHRA Lucas Oil Series event Sunday at the Route 66 Raceway near Chicago. Booher defeated Jared Dreher’s nitro-burning dragster in the final round 5.40 to a 5.48. In Top Alcohol Funny Car, Jay Payne notched his 72nd career victory with a 5.57-second win over John Lombardo, Jr., while Greg Kamplain ousted Jeremy Bailey in Competition Eliminator in a battle of six-second dragsters, 6.88 to 6.60.

Kansas native Gary Stinnett and Kevin Dyck both doubled-up on the weekend at the NHRA West Central division Lucas Oil Series event at the S.R.C.A. Dragstrip in Great Bend, Kansas. Stinnett captured honors in both Super Street and the Super Street Shootout, while Dyck won both the Super Comp Shootout and Super Gas eliminator on Sunday. In Competition Eliminator, Texas’ Don Thomas defeated Matt Harris with a 6.85-second lap, while Matt Driskell ousted Mark Grame in an all-Kansas Top Dragster finale.

Shawn Cowie bested reigning Top Alcohol Dragster champion Joey Severance at the LORDCO Auto Parts Nationals Northwest division event at the Mission Raceway in Canada, driving away to a 5.43-second victory to go along with his top qualifying effort. Clint Thompson was victorious in Top Alcohol Funny Car, his 5.77 doing the trick as opponent Mike Doushgounian slowed, and in Competition Eliminator, Brian Hyerstay easily defeated a dead-late Bruce Perkin for the title.
