NHRA Summit Racing Equipment Nationals
One of the most popular stops on the NHRA Mello Yello tour, the Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk played host to the stars of the NHRA over the holiday weekend. There, Doug Kalitta headlined the winners podium with his victory in Top Fuel, as he used a 3.82 to oust Antron Brown in the final. In Funny Car, Jack Beckman defeated a tire-smoking Courtney Force, 4.21 to a 4.60, while Greg Anderson continued his torrid summer in Pro Stock with his fourth win of the season — a 6.59 to 6.59 defeat of Drew Skillman. In Pro Stock Motorcycle, Karen Stoffer bested Angelle Sampey in a rare all-female professional final, while Mike Janis scored a victory in Pro Modified at what he considers his home track over Troy Coughlin.
