BIEHLE, BERRY, HINES, SHEMWELL OPEN NMCA SEASON WITH WINS
Pro Mod racer Michael Biehle headlined the winners at the NMCA’s season opening event at the Bradenton Motorsports Park on Sunday, joining Keith Berry (Radial Wars), Phil Hines (Street Outlaw), Danny Shemwell (Nitrous Pro Street) and a host of others.
NMCA Bradenton
Michael Biehle, in his twin-turbo Ford Mustang, marched through the Pro Mod class to earn a season-opening victory at the NMCA Muscle Car Nationals in Bradenton, Florida on Sunday, ousting Robert Abbott in the final round with a 6.09-second blast. In Radial Wars, reigning series champion Keith Berry started his title defense off on the right foot, using consistent four-teen passes to drive through the field, eventually defeating Mark Woodruff in the final, 4.19 to 4.28. In Street Outlaw, Phil Hines got the best of Eric Gustafson on the starting line — his 6.98 defeating a quicker 6.97 — while Danny Shemwell clocked a 7.57 in the Nitrous Pro Street final to defeat Jeff Rudolf.

PDRA Texas Nationals
Mustafa Buhumaid earned his first career PDRA victory on Sunday evening following a rain-soaked, season-opening Texas Nationals at the Texas Motorplex near Dallas. Buhumaid ousted Brandon Snider in the Pro Extreme final, 3.57 to 3.59. In Pro Nitrous, Tommy Franklin used an impressive strong of mid to low 3.7-second runs to work his way to the final, where he defeated Jeffrey Cummins, 3.74 to 3.80. Kevin Fiscus earned a win in Pro Boost to open the year, defeating John Strickland with an off-pace 4.78, and Eric McKinney virtually dominated Pro Extreme Motorcycle, besting Ashley Owens in the final, 4.06 to 4.45.

NHRA Cajun SPORTSNationals
Arnie Martel headlined the winners list at the first NHRA SPORTSNationals of the season with his victory in Competition Eliminator, as he drove further under the index than Glen Treadwell to earn his 15th national event title at the No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, Louisiana. In Super Stock, Anthony Bertozzi locked horns with Joe Santangelo, and after a pair of exceptional lights, it was Bertozzi closer to the number with a dead-on 8.851. And in Stock, another class racing hitter, Kevin Helms, emerged victorious, putting more than a tenth on Chuck Downing at the tree and parlaying it into his 23rd national event win.

PSCA Las Vegas Nationals
Rick Schmidt took Outlaw 10.5 honors at the PSCA’s season-opening event at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway over the weekend, using a 4.69-second run to defeat Doug Sikora in the final. In Outlaw 8.5, Casey Van Tol defeated top qualifier Anthony Smith, while David Singletary ousted James Lawrence in the Xtreme Drag Radial/TT5 final, 4.99 to a 5.08.
