Kevin Fiscus (Outlaw Pro Mod), Phil Sliskovic (Outlaw 10.5), and Mark Micke (Outlaw Limited Street) headlined the winners list at the annual Shakedown at the Summit in Norwalk on Sunday evening.
Shakedown At The Summit
Kevin Fiscus earned one of the largest Pro Modified purses in history on Sunday evening at the annual Shakedown at the Summit at the Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, as he collected a whopping $40,000 after defeating Melanie Salemi with a 5.97 in the Outlaw Pro Mod finale. In Outlaw 10.5, Phil Sliskovic parked his ’68 Camaro atop the qualifying leaderboard with a 4.05 and parlayed it into victory on Sunday, running a scorching 3.97 to down Mike Decker, Jr.’s 4.06. Mark Micke claimed Outlaw Limited Street honors in a tight final round with Josh Klugger that saw bother drivers record 4.00 elapsed times, while Shawn Pevlor carded a class record 4.76 in qualifying and a 4.78 in the final to defeat Camren Massengale.

NHRA Carolina Nationals
Antron Brown opened his title defense in fine fashion on Sunday at the NHRA Carolina Nationals at the zMax Dragway on Sunday, defeating Doug Kalitta in the Top Fuel finale, 3.76 to 3.81, for his fifth victory of the season. In Funny Car, John Force edged out top qualifier Tommy Johnson, Jr. in an exceptional drag race, 3.94 to 3.98, while Jason Line and Greg Anderson returned to their early season form in Pro Stock, as the two Summit cars faced off in the final, with Line taking the 6.62 to 6.63 victory. Chip Ellis notched his seventh career NHRA victory with a 6.87 to 6.90 ousting of Andrew Hines in the two-wheeled division, and Bob Rahaim took Pro Modified honors over Mike Castellana, 6.34 to a slowing 9.32.

Mark Moffat drove his 1993 Corvette from the top qualifying spot to the winners circle in Pro Mod at the NMCA WEST Street Car Nationals at the Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, California on Sunday, needing only a 5.17 to defeat a slowing Greg Seth-Hunter in the money round. In Limited Street, James Lawrence powered the supercharged Dragzine Camaro into victory lane with a 4.82 to 4.95 defeat of Ryan Jones, while Mike Silva ousted Kevin Watson in the Ultra Street final, 5.47 to 5.81.

Keith Hall claimed Competition Eliminator honors at the fifth stop on the NHRA South Central division Lucas Oil Series tour at Louisiana’s Thunder Road Raceway Park, as opponent Brian Browell lit the red bulb, handing the victory over to Hall and his D/SM Chevy Cavalier. In Super Stock, Chris Chaney hung a nearly five-hunderedths edge on Jonathan Womack at the tree in the final and backed into the win, running 10.01 on his 9.97 dial. And in Stock, David Latino got the better of Greg Stanfield on the tree and pushed the former Pro Stock racer under the dial for the victory.

The NHRA’s Northwest division Lucas Oil Series rolled into the Woodburn Dragstrip in Oregon to wrap up its 2016 season over the weekend — a finale that was ultimately extended by a day after inclement weather hampered the efforts of race officials to complete qualifying and eliminations. After completing some of the early rounds on Sunday, the remainder of the event was postponed to Monday, where J Todd Gale (Stock), Tom Clark (Super Comp), Ross Childers (Super Gas) and Dustin Martin (Super Street) were among the winners.
