Ohio Valley Prize Fight
The Ohio Valley Raceway near Louisville, Kentucky crowned its third annual Prize Fight champions early Sunday morning after battling late afternoon showers, and when all was said and done, it was reigning Ultra Street champion Joel Greathouse who left the biggest mark on this years’ event, not only defending his title, but nearly doubling-up, with a runner-up finish to Shane Fisher in X275. In Limited Drag Radial, Mike Jones and his twin turbo Chevy Cobalt outran Kerri Anne Beebe for the title, while Michael Hicks turned away Jeff Carpenter for the Nitrous X hardware with a 4.75 in the finale.

NHRA SPORTSNationals
The NHRA JEGS SPORTSNationals made its long-awaited return to the Beech Bend Raceway Park in Kentucky this weekend, the one-time home of the sportsman-only national event, with more than 600 racers from all across the country jamming the facility and braving less-than-stellar weather forecasts. But the event was completed on Sunday without a hitch, as Louisiana native and former world champ Craig Bourgeois headlined the winner’s circle with his triumph in Competition Eliminator, as he drove his nostalgia dragster past the small-displacement dragster of Jason Coan for the crown. In Super Stock, Division 3 runner Brad Zaskowski defeated Jimmy Hidalgo in a wild final round, as Hidalgo lost traction early and crossed the centerline, while in Stock, Houston Raikes, appearing in his first career final round, defeated Craig Marshall to earn the national event Wally.
