Lavon Miller is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in diesel racing today, if not the biggest. His shop, Firepunk Diesel, has become synonymous with race-ready transmissions and a winning pedigree, and his truck is one that everyone watches when it rolls into the staging lane.
The heart of the truck is a 6.7-liter Cummins built by D&J Precision Machine, and it is bolstered by Hot Shot’s Secret and its FR3 Friction Reducer. The engine is a top-of-the-line model and costs more than a new Camry, and makes more than triple the power and torque, too.
Making more than 2,300 horsepower and 3,400 lb-ft of torque, you can imagine the sorts of stresses the engine goes through. Thankfully, FR3 comes in handy, and it’s a proven add-on that’s helped Lavon and his team.
“We’ve done independent testing at our shop on our chassis dyno,” states Lavon. “Using my 2016 Ram 2500, I did five baseline pulls and made 500 horsepower. Then I added FR3 and let the engine idle for 20 minutes, letting the FR3 work its way through. I did five more pulls within five minutes after, and saw an extra 14 horsepower averaged out over the five pulls.”
“For me, that sells the product,” says Lavon. “It’s a product that reduces friction on the oil and picks up 14 more horsepower in a 500-horsepower application.”
