PRI 2015: Impact Racing’s New Helmets With SNELL’s SA2015 Updates

MG5_6657Whether you’re pulling four-G’s in a Formula 1 car at 200 mph on a road circuit, bombing through the Sonoran Desert in your Baja 1000 truck, or making a blistering 3-second pass over 300 mph in a Funny Car at Indianapolis, safety has become so second nature that it is often one of the last things on your mind.

MG5_6658Thankfully, the sanctioning racing bodies of the world are looking out for your well-being, with guidance from safety foundations like Snell. Every five years, testing requirements and procedures are updated to adhere to the latest revisions.

Updated requirements to the SA2015 include the mandated addition of frontal head restraint helmet anchor provisions and additional testing of low velocity impact and low lateral impact testing, per Kelli Willmore of Impact by Master Craft Safety.

MG5_6659Since its founding in 1957, Snell has been the leading independent testing foundation and a guide for the safety standards and construction design of helmets for companies like Impact. With its wide range of helmet designs and SA2015 compliance, Impact lets you look good while keeping your ‘noggin’ safe.

Impact offers a helmet for everyone’s budget and style preference, from the hand-crafted fiberglass shell of the budget-conscious 1320 helmet, to the aerodynamic and lightweight construction of the elegant carbon fiber Vapor helmet — there’s a helmet to fit a variety of motorsport applications and budgets.

Standard features include a fire-retardant soft-knit Nomex interior, and interchangeable cheek pads for a custom-fit, with optional fresh air ports on most of the available models to evacuate moisture and help keep drivers cool under stressful racing conditions.
