PRI 2016: Surge Tanks And GM/LS Fuel Systems From FiTech

Just like many of the other components which make up an engine build, the fuel system is yet another vital key to the survival of the power plant – and the folks at FiTech Fuel Injection out of Riverside, California, have spent two decades dedicating their efforts to engineering and developing advanced modern fuel systems.

At this year’s PRI Show, we had the opportunity to catch up with Cody Marquez with FiTech. Marquez gave us a rundown of what was on display in the FiTech booth, and they did not disappoint.

“One thing we’re excited to discuss this year on display is our 102 mm billet aluminum throttle-body,” Marquez said. “It’s designed to work in conjunction with our EFI LS Induction System, as it’s port matched to 102 mm [or 92 mm].” Marquez continued to explain that both units utilize a “Hi Flow” cable operated construction, which is parabolic inlet matched for smooth throttle transition. Marquez said, “It’s designed to feel like the OE equipment, but with a more progressive linkage pulley because of the double return spring and an adjustable stop.”

Next up was FiTech's G-Surge standalone fuel system.

Next up was FiTech’s G-Surge standalone fuel system.

“For our surge tanks, we use a single [or double] pump system–rated from 750 hp to 1,500 hp depending on which system you go with,” Marquez said.

He then explained the importance of the standalone system for racers. “For enthusiasts that autocross, drag race, and off-road their vehicles, these tanks are a huge benefit – as they keep all of the fuel in one place, and not swishing around,” Marquez concluded.
