According to Lee, “these kits will be available in the first quarter of 2012.”
McLeod Clutches was founded by innovator Red Roberts in 1971 and their reputation grew as a respected manufacturer of racing clutches. Along the way the company developed other driveline products like throwout bearings, flywheels and bell housings with equal success.
McLeod Racing has become a supplier to MOPAR Performance, Ford Motor Company, Rousch, Saleen and many others. It was only a matter of time before the company combined their individual components into one complete package for a complete driveline solution for project car builders.
While the full packages are still being developed and details are still not published, McLeod Racing brought an example of what these driveline kits were going to look like. The example displayed took the form of McLeod’s 1970 Hemi Cuda project car and it was featured prominently in the McLeod SEMA trade show booth.
According to Lee, components in this package consisted of:
- McLeod SFI billet flywheel
- RXT twin disc clutch
- McLeod SFI bell housing
- McLeod hydraulic throwout bearing
- McLeod hydraulic master cylinder
- McLeod M-800 transmission
- McLeod Slik Stix shifter
According to Lee, “packages for project cars from other manufacturers are still being developed but you can expect to see similar kits available for GM project cars in the very near future.”
McLeod Clutches, the company that Red Roberts founded and established as the well-known Clutch Company to the industry, is now much more than a clutch company. Owner Paul Lee says that “it’s time for you to get to know us.”
