SEMA 2015: Odyssey’s Trio Of Leading-Edge Chargers Do The Job Right

Odyssey‘s new lineup of battery chargers is specifically designed for Odyssey Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) batteries. There are three different sizes: a six amp, 12 amp, and 20 amp.

“These are a new generation of chargers, built with the best of the best, and we have done our homework,” says Alan Kohler, Odyssey’s specialty marketing manager. “Each charger is tailored to a specific size Odyssey battery. These chargers are fully automatic, they are vibration-resistant like our batteries, which is important if you off road, drag race, or actively use your vehicle. These chargers are dust-proof, heavy-duty, and built with top of the line technology. They feature a six-stage charge mode that checks your battery to see if it can even be charged, and will notify if you have a bad battery.

“They are designed to also deliver the proper voltage for an Odyssey AGM battery; a Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) AGM battery like the Odyssey requires 14.7 volts to achieve a full charge. Other chargers on the market cannot reach 14.7 volts, so you need to make sure that if you are buying our battery you have a charger to go along with it. Our chargers will charge any battery, but we have designed them to our specs, to excel at charging the Odyssey brand.”

The charger’s safety features include spark-free connections, built-in over-voltage, overload, over-temperature, reverse polarity, and ignition protection. The all-digital power charging platform is packaged in a rugged housing of extruded aluminum, providing weatherproof protection in all conditions.

In addition, Odyssey chargers feature a user-friendly interface with an easy-to-read LED battery charge monitor to provide users with a relative charge level status at-a-glance during operation. A system “OK” and battery fault trouble status indicator eliminates time-consuming troubleshooting by confirming the system and battery connections are intact, or indicating that a fault is present prior to charging.
