Chevrolet Performance Challenge Series Race Recap

The Chevrolet Performance Challenge Series went off without a hitch this past weekend as part of the Arrington Performance NMRA/NMCA All-American Nationals at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan. As usual, the competition was fierce, and racers showed up with Corvettes, Camaros, and a host of other Chevrolet-powered vehicles too. And while there were fewer spectators at the event due to the current circumstances, the crowd was still excited to see all of the cars on race day.

Dennis Butt drove his Mustang to the finals and in the Aerospace Components Winner’s Circle for the LME Street King class.

LME Street King

Al Corda ran a 10.26 on a 10.25 index to lead qualifying in Late Model Engines (LME) Street King. However, it was Dennis Butt that wound up in the Aerospace Components Winner’s Circle. Dennis was able to run a 10.04 on a 10.00 dial, beating Kurt Anderson’s 10.003 on a 10.00 dial time due to his better reaction time.

Regina Puckett made it to the finals to battle Cody Poston.

Proform Rumble

Dewayne Massengale took his Camaro and led qualifying in the Proform Rumble with a 12.00 on a 12.00 dial. But the second spot points holder, Regina Puckett, made it to the finals againt Cody Poston. Her 12.00 on a 12.00 index earned the win over Poston, as he broke out with a 10.48 on a 10.50 dial.

Chevrolet Performance Stock presented by Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center

Ronnie Hackelton led qualifying in Chevrolet Performance Stock presented by Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center for the second race in a row. Hackelton made it to the final round of eliminations to battle Shawn Calabrese. Calabrese managed to outperform Hackleton’s 10.56 with a 10.34, earning him a trip to the winner’s circle.

Shawn Calabrese earned a trip to the winner’s circle with a 10.34 in the Chevrolet Performance Street Car Challenge class.

Don Dixon took the overall win in n the Chevrolet Performance Street Car Challenge with a 10.38 average in his GTO. Norm Jensen was the runner-up with a 10.42 average in his Camaro. Other winners included Kevin Rowand in the 11-second category, Doug Boardwell in the 13-second category, Stacy Hurt in the 14-second category, and Larry Firestone in the 15-second category.

The next Chevrolet Performance Challenge Series will be September 24-27 at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indiana to chase championships and try to put themselves in the winner’s circle.
