Clint Satterfield Is Ready To Go Hog Wild At The WSOPM

Clint Satterfield wants nothing more than to put a big exclamation point on his Pro Mod season with a strong showing at the World Series Of Pro Mod (WSOPM). Satterfield hasn’t missed a WSOPM yet and he’s riding a wave of momentum coming into this year’s race. With a trailer full of fresh parts Satterfield wants to go some rounds behind the wheel of his Larry Jeffers-built “Turbo Big” Camaro.

Satterfield and his racing partner Bob Gardner, are staples on the NHRA Pro Mod tour and work hard as a two-man operation. Their 1969 Camaro has made some big strides in performance of late with the XRE Racing Engines-prepared 526 cubic-inch HEMI, and the results have shown on the track.

“This season really started out kind of rough but has gotten better. We’ve been able to qualify for a couple of races and made it to the finals at Topeka — some days it’s better to be blessed than good in drag racing. The first thing you have to do is qualify, and just qualifying for one of these races is a feat. It’s the hardest class there is in drag racing, with the highest level of competition and the toughest cars to drive,” Satterfield says.

Using that improved performance is going to be important at the WSOPM. The altitude difference at Bandimere Speedway presents a different set of challenges than what Satterfield and Gardner are used to seeing. With that in mind, the duo will have the Turbo Pig set on kill the second it rolls into the water-box.

“At an event like the WSOPM you’re going to have to go at it on every pass. When there’s this much money on the line you can’t back down at all. We’ll use our open test days to make sure the car spools and everything is happy. We’re bringing our best parts to this race — all of our engines are fresh and everything is ready to go. You know you’re going to have to push everything hard, so you have to bring some spare parts to be ready,” Satterfield explains.

Satterfield doesn’t treat the WSOPM like most races. Even though they’re coming to win, Satterfield and Gardner are ready to enjoy the event to the fullest.

“This is a fun event for us because the NHRA races are just so unbelievably stressful just trying to qualify. This is a family affair and Wes does a great job making sure everyone is happy. This is the race we go to each year that’s fun — yes it’s for a lot of money, but it’s a great event,” Satterfield says.

Clint Satterfield wants to bring home the bacon at the World Series Of Pro Mod and he’ll have his shot August 9-10 at Bandimere Speedway. SpeedVideo.com will be in the rocky mountain state to show all the World Series Of Pro Mod action live RIGHT HERE. This broadcast is brought to you by Crane Cams, ProCharger, and Flying A Motorsports.
