With a passion for competition and community, the Midwest Class Racers created the CTech Manufacturing Badger Classic ten years ago.
The group was joined in its efforts by equally enthusiastic racers Kurt Anderson, Bruce Lang and Russ Berens seven years ago, with Anderson taking the Muscle Car Index class under his wing, and Lang and Berens fostering the Nostalgia Super Stock and Nostalgia Muscle classes. The annual event welcomes racers from across the country at its home, Rock Falls Raceway in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. This year’s presentation is set for June 28-29, 2025, with a test and tune session available on June 27.
Classes include Midwest Class Racers Stock/Super Stock, TorqStorm Superchargers True Street, Autokraft Race Cars Muscle Car Index, and BK Trucking/Berg Sales Nostalgia Super Stock/Nostalgia Muscle Car Combo. Additionally, Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales Open Comp has been introduced to the impressive lineup this year.
Three years ago, Kurt Anderson and Scott Dugdale suggested raffles be introduced to the event to benefit charity, and so far, more than $101,000 has been raised to benefit Joshua’s Camp, a special retreat and respite in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, for children with cancer and their families. The grand prize for one of this year’s raffles is $5,000 cash, while the second-place winner receives $1,000 and the third-place winner receives $500. CTech Manufacturing funds the raffle earnings, in addition to donating some of the company’s products for additional raffles.
“With the charity aspect of the event, and everyone helping to support it, this turns into a feel-good event,” said Anderson, who, in addition to Bruce Lang, Russ Berens, and Scott Dugdale, has help from Rock Falls Raceway Track Manager Travis Hilton. “What inspires me the most is knowing we have made a difference in the lives of others.”
The event, which is covered by local television and radio stations, also includes a sizable car show
“We always get compliments on how the event is run and the atmosphere surrounding it,” said Anderson. “The facility is state-of-the-art, and we are very fortunate to have a track of this caliber in our area.”
In addition to title and class sponsors, other reputable companies on board for outstanding support are Summit Racing Equipment, Weldon Racing Pumps, Scoggin Dickey Parts Center and Comp Cams, and several take part in race giveaways.
“We could not do this event without the help of all of our sponsors,” said Anderson, who has a fan-favorite yellow Camaro that continuously reaches for the sky, and whose wife, Shawna, has a black Camaro that also captures attention. “We have been blessed with the amount of support we receive from them. This is our 10th Annual Badger Classic, and we are looking forward to many more. The personality of the event is way different from any event I have ever been to.”
The test and tune session costs $100, while race entry each day costs $125. Winners will take home $3,000 and runners-up will pocket $1,500. Round winners are looking at $125 starting with a first round win.
