Development Group Reaches Agreement To Purchase Maple Grove Raceway

According to report from published this morning by the Reading Eagle, Motorsports Developers of King of Prussia has reached a contractual agreement to purchase the Maple Grove Raceway in Mohnton, Pennsylvania.

The track, opened in 1962, was placed for sale last June for an asking price of $8 million. The agreed-upon purchase price was not disclosed to Brecknock Township supervisors. The facility is owned by Mark Stauffer and Kent Lewis and is situated on grounds that have been in the Stauffer family since 1923. Motorsports Developers, per the agreement, has 90 days to complete the required steps to finalize the transaction.

Motorsports Developers partners Chris Winter, Joseph Casella and Jordan Levitt met with Brecknock Township officials and residents, where they shared that they had been “secret shopping” the raceway for six months, citing the community’s support of the track and the welcoming nature of the township.

“The plan is to keep it a racetrack and make the township money through different revenue streams,” Levitt told the assembled crowd.

The group, with more than 100 years of collective experience in motorsports, plans to increase seating, add a multi-use track for karting, law enforcement driver training and student drivers, fix traffic flow issues, improve the concessions, renovate the Maple Grove Restaurant and Bar, and host charitable events. Additionally, there are plans to add a drift track to the facility.

“Our plan is not to upset the apple cart, but make it faster and smoother, having a better use of the facility with no impact at all,” Casella said.

The Maple Grove Raceway has, for 36 years, hosted the Mopar ExpressLane NHRA Nationals (formerly known as the Keystone Nationals), along with the NMRA, NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, the Truckin’ Nationals, the PDRA, and a number of other annual events.
