FuelTech Releases Version 4.5 Software Update And FT Input Expander

Electronic fuel injection (EFI) has gone from a dark art in drag racing to standard fare, as companies like FuelTech reimagined how these systems could function, improved their capabilities, and simplified them for the end user. Now, FuelTech has released its Version 4.5 software for the PowerFT Engine Management system and it’s packed with great features.

The FuelTech FT Input Expander is a new product the company has developed and integrated into the Version 4.5 software. The Input Expander works with the FT450, FT500, FT500Lite, FT550, FT550LITE, and FT600 ECUs from FuelTech. This new piece of hardware adds an additional 20 channels of inputs to the ECU that can be used for numerous sensor readings. You can learn more about the FT Input Expander right here on the FuelTech website.

The Version 4.5 software brings a whole assortment of great features to the table for your FuelTech ECU that can be used in a variety of ways. Engine health can be monitored much easier now with the cylinder relative compression test that the Version 4.5 software has built-in. It looks at a drop in voltage when your engine is cranking to estimate the compression between the engine’s cylinders. You also have the option with the Version 4.5 software to set up a secondary injection output that can be configured to work with your required function.

These are just two of the many new functions that are included with the Version 4.5 software update. Luis De Leon from FuelTech explains why the company pushes out these updates for its customers.

“We want to keep providing our customers with the best of everything, especially since technology evolves so fast in the world of motorsports. These new features make it possible for tuners and racers to try new things, or just make their job easier when it comes to tuning a car. We wanted to open windows for a new approach to things in the high performance and racing world.”
