In the past decade American automakers have done their best to remind baby boomers that they used to build muscle cars. In the case of Chrysler this meant reviving icons like the Challenger and names like HEMI. The HEMI engine has subsequently wound up under the hood of a number of Chrysler’s cars and trucks, including the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

And like other HEMI vehicles, the Grand Cherokee SRT8 takes quite well to modifications and forced induction. Jalopnik found this video of a 9-second, 1,142 horsepower twin-turbo Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 for your viewing pleasure.

This is an older Grand Cherokee, looking to be about the 2007 vintage. Even so, this was close to a $50,000 vehicle when it first debuted, and since then an extensive amount of work has obviously gone into it, including the engine. The engine features a Paramount Performance Product’s twin turbo system which, along with supporting mods, delivers around 1,142 horsepower.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is no lightweight, weighing almost 4,700 pounds from the factory. But with 1,142 horsepower on tap, it’s fast enough to motivate the muscle SUV to a 9.46 @ 145 mph. Even more impressive, this vehicle drove to and from the track.
