After hinting at such during Lights Out 10 a month ago, infamous radial-tire race promoter Donald Long confirmed on Tuesday that his DuckX Productions events would not return to the South Georgia Motorsports Park, the venue that has become as synonymous with his twice-yearly races as the radial tires on the cars themselves. The announcement, which came just 48 hours removed from the completion of the second edition of his record-shattering Sweet 16, ignited a firestorm of discussion online as to the future whereabouts of his events.

South Georgia Motorsports Park staff confirmed the end of the fruitful partnership, sharing via social media: SGMP wants to thank Lenco, Donald, Donald Sr., Nancy and the whole Duck X crew for a great 10 years. Good luck and God bless.

Long, unsurprisingly, confirmed that he would not be moving to track owner Ozzy Moya’s other racing property, the Orlando Speed World Dragway in Florida. One could also surmise, albeit not entirely establish, that Wade Rich, Moya’s President of Operations and radial track prep extraordinaire, who has been instrumental in the success of Long’s event, would not figure into the future of Lights Out, Sweet 16, and No Mercy at a competing venue.

Unknown at this time is whether Long intends to find a single home for each of his three events, or would entertain differing venues spring and fall. However, publicized Lights Out 11 dates of February 13-16, 2020 would very likely rule out such venues as GALOT Motorsports Park (North Carolina), Darlington Dragway (South Carolina), Northstar Dragway (Texas), Atlanta Dragway, and Virginia Motorsports Park, all of which see daily highs only in the 50s in mid-February.

Bradenton Motorsports Park, which hosted Long’s Outlaw Radial Tire Championship events that pre-dated Lights Out, already hosts it own competing event, the U.S. Street Nationals, just three weeks prior. That presumably leaves only the Gainesville Raceway and Palm Beach International Raceway as warm-weather suitors for late winter racing — unless a deal can be struck with Bradenton.
