Rig of the Month: 32″ All-Aluminum Sundowner Enclosed Trailer

As the official trailer/motorcoach dealer of Dragzine, Flying A Motorsports’ extensive lineup of new and used motorhomes and toterhomes, race car trailers, stacker trailers, car haulers, and cargo trailers will be highlighted here in a monthly feature, the Rig of the Month.

This month’s featured rig is a 32-foot enclosed trailer from Sundowner — a brand Flying A’s Alan Cape describes as a mid-tier, all-aluminum trailer that’s suited for a variety of uses.

This particular trailer, a 2018 model, is a one-owner, low-mile piece, used very sparingly to haul motorcycles. To that end, Cape says this trailer could easily fit into the category of a toy hauler, with provisions for strapping down motorcycles, quads, and other off-road vehicles, or a full-size racecar. Of particular interest with this Sundowner is that it features a full bath, with a toilet, sink, and a shower; combined with the cabinetery along the front and left side wall — separated by the bathroom — there is an estimated 20-feet of floor space to fit a door-car, or a dragster situated along the right side. There’s also space up front for your quad or golf cart.

The trailer features triple 5,000-lb. axles (for a total gross rating of 15,600 lbs.), electric brakes, polished aluminum wheels, a screw-less aluminum exterior and one-piece roof, and an upgraded blackout trim package. As previously noted, it sports both aircraft tracks for tying down smaller vehicles like a motorcycle or quad, along with D-rings for an automobile. There’s also a 110-volt AC receptacle to hook up your generator and power your accessories.

“It’s a weekender type of trailer for people to go play with their ATV’s, or for a sportsman-type racecar or drag bike. It covers all your bases, and if your wife ore girlfriend comes along, there’s a place she can use the shower and have a private restroom.”

As Cape shares, the dry weight of the trailer is around 7,000-lbs. — all-aluminum trailer tend to weigh 500-1,000-lbs. lighter than a comparably-sized steel trailer, which proves benefits in fuel economy and general towing characteristics.
