Street Car Braggin’ Rights Race is Back Bigger and Better for 2023

Local racer-turned-promoter Nate Prater’s first-ever Street Car Braggin’ Rights race in June of 2022 was so hugely successful that he’s bringing it back for a second installment. Street Car Braggin’ Rights ‘23 Presented by Vengeance Racing will be held over the weekend of May 4-6, 2023 at Carolina Dragway “The House of Hook” in Aiken, South Carolina, with an incredible $43,000+ (and growing) in guaranteed payouts for SCBR participants.

Hosted by Prater’s Bring It Back Meets organization, the inaugural SCBR brought in 140 registered racers, 110 entries into The Show car show, and approximately 2,300 spectators to witness it all. The event also featured tons of special touches and exciting additions such as a red carpet VIP area with trackside seating and high-end catered meals, exhibition runs by Jeff Miller in his supercharged “Bumblebee” Pro Mod Camaro, complimentary entertainment and bounce houses for kids, nighttime fireworks show, and so much more.

Prater’s positive debut as an event promoter inspired the 31-year-old Augusta, Georgia-based entrepreneur to not only host a second Street Car Braggin’ Rights, but to also commit to running additional events in 2024 and 2025 – all with Vengeance Racing showing their support of Prater by signing on as the official SCBR Presenting Sponsor.

Taking place on May 4-6, 2023, the second iteration of the event has also been expanded from its original one-day format with five classes to a full, three-day spectacle with 12 classes including eight street car-centric categories, three golf cart classes, and a specialty shootout.

Kicking off on Thursday, May 4, the exciting $10,000 16-car Small Tire Shootout invitational will be contested with $7,500 being distributed to the winner and $2,500 going to the runner-up.

On Friday, May 5, street car performance potential is highlighted as the racing heats up. A hybrid of bracket and index racing where drivers can dial in their own time in 0.5-second intervals, the 64-car field of the Street Car Shootout class lets enthusiasts show off their street-driven machines on a level playing field. In 2022, James Chavis won the class with his 1973 Chevrolet Nova and he will be back in 2023 to defend his hard-earned title.

After the Street Car Shootout concludes, golf carts will take center stage as three separate divisions (electric, gas, and modified) let participants put their pit vehicles to the test; the electric and gas classes will be run to the 330-foot mark, but the modified carts will run all-out to the eighth-mile.

For its third day on Saturday, May 6, Street Car Braggin’ Rights reaches full speed as seven classes will battle it out on the dragstrip. Run by Sophia Fox, the Women and Wheels class will start things off as the group joins SCBR for the first time. A popular class within the Street Car Takeover tour, SCBR’s inclusion of Women and Wheels will be eligible for the season’s points series.

Next, the FWD class pits front-wheel-drive monsters against one another while the All Motor, Stick Shift, and Wild Street categories follow suit. Big behemoths get their chance to play, too, in Battle of the Heavy Weights before the Run What You Brung group caps the day off with unlimited performance.

The Show – a large car, truck, and motorcycle show – will also take place on Saturday and is limited to 125 entries. More than 25 custom, high-end awards are on the line and will be handed out to the rightful recipients.

Finally, the event will wrap up with a customized fireworks display on Saturday night after the conclusion of the final elimination round of racing.

Announcer Derek Putnam will be on the property to give attendees all the details as they go down. Racers can pre-register for their preferred class online to confirm their entry, while fans can also snag their special credentials ahead of time. Kids ages 12 and under can enjoy free admission all weekend long, and the family-friendly environment will also have inflatables for the little ones on all three days.

Additionally, a limited amount of All Access tickets which include exclusive access to the starting line, a hospitality tent with snacks and refreshments throughout the race, plus catered dinners on both Friday and Saturday nights, the tower’s climate-controlled second-floor viewing lounge, private luxury bathrooms, and more, are available online for $200 each.

With more than $40,000 in purses already locked in and Prater’s signature over-the-top experience already gaining traction with both racers and spectators, as well as Carolina Dragway’s legendary racing surface, the Street Car Braggin’ Rights ‘23 Presented by Vengeance Racing event on May 4-6, 2023, is surely one that can’t be missed.
