How fast is too fast? This is a question that the guys at Race Proven Motorsports have yet to address with their current Trailblazer SS Build. Personally we’re not even sure that there’s an answer to that philosophical question.
Every time we check in on the Trailblazer it seems to be moving faster and faster. Last time we were able to get a peek at it, she was hovering around the mid 10s in the quarter mile. These days the 10-second bracket is far more commonplace than it was a couple of years ago, but when you factor in 4800 pounds of mass, it’s still quite impressive nonetheless. However, “impressive” wasn’t quite the cap for this build.
Since the last time we caught up with the ‘Blazer it has managed to shave almost a second off of its elapsed time. In this video, we witness an impressive 9.89-second pass with a near-unbelievable 1.46-second 60 foot time. “What is different now from the last time?” you may find yourself asking. Well, the truck still is sporting the same basic modifications. It still has the iron block featuring 408 cubes which is paired with the same F1R Procharger. What’s the change? This time the blower was bumped up by 2 PSI and 50 horsepower worth of nitrous was added to yield a total of 1,100 horsepower in this bonafide street beast.
With numbers venturing into the high 9s, it is believed that this is the fastest Trailblazer SS that is currently still together and running. Where it will stop, we can’t begin to speculate. I guess we’ll just have to stay tuned to see how close to the limits this bulky beast can get.
