The MOPAR Drag Pak Challenger is an awesome package, so when the folks at ATI Performance Products needed to build a racer to demonstrate their products, that’s where they started.
This Challenger now runs a Gary Stanton Racing built 370cui HEMI engine in legal NHRA Stocker trim, with Fuel Injection via AEM and Devin Pearce. The Challenger is equipped with an ATI 8-inch Treemaster MRT converter and ATI built Ultra Lightweight Competition 904 Transmission.
The Chrysler TF904 undergoes a major transformation in the hands of ATI’s technicians.
Fully blueprinted and equipped with high flow lube circuits as well as hard chrome oil rings, heavy duty sprags and a Compu-Flow valve body as standard, the Competition 904 transmission delivers increased torque handling for those hard launches.
The 904’s clutch packs are assembled for individual applications and optional low ratio gearsets are available.
Backing up the transmission, ATI Treemaster torque converters are built for competition use with furnace-brazed impeller and turbine fins, precision pump drive tube and heavy duty Torrington needle bearings. ATI’s chief operating officer, JC Beattie Jr, experiences the company’s performance products directly by driving the Challenger in competition.
The 2011 NMCA season has been going well for Beattie, who has garnered several wins, including the HEMI King of the Hill Shootout in Maryland and a class win in Reading. Beyond just running at the races, ATI also sponsors the NMCA’s hotly contested 275 Drag Radial class.
