KALITTA, HAGAN, LINE, KRAWIEC RACE TO VICTORY IN ATLANTA

Doug Kalitta won in Top Fuel for the second event in a row, while Jason Line advanced to his seventh final round in seven races in Pro Stock to headline the stories from the NHRA Southern Nationals at the Atlanta Dragway.

Doug Kalitta claimed his second victory in as many races in Top Fuel on Sunday in Atlanta, and he did it in historic fashion, defeating teammate J.R. Todd in the closest known nitro race in NHRA history, with a margin of victory of less than .0000-seconds, as he won on a holeshot, 3.80 to a 3.78. In Funny Car, Matt Hagan ousted teammate Jack Beckman for the crown, 3.96 to a slowing 8.07, while in Pro Stock, Jason Line advanced to his seventh final in seven races this season, winning for the fourth time, on a holeshot, over teammate Greg Anderson. In Pro Stock Motorcycle, Eddie Krawiec, who has been in all three final rounds thus far in 2016, downed Jerry Savoie by a 6.82 to 6.85 count, and Rickie Smith earned his second victory in three races in Pro Modified, defeating Kevin Fiscus in the money round.

NMCA Bluegrass Nationals

Mississippi native Tim Savell powered his nitrous-fed Camaro past Stephen Stringer to earn the Xtreme Pro Mod crown at the NMCA Bluegrass Nationals at the Beech Bend Raceway Park in Kentucky on Sunday, .81 to a 3.88. He was joined in victory lane by Radial Wars winner DeWayne Mills. who defeated Daniel Pharris in a barn-burner of a race, 3.87 to 3.9o, while Jarod Wenrick edged out Jacky McCarty in Street Outlaw, 4.48 to a right-there 4.50.

Throwdown In T-Town

Frankie “The Mad Man” Taylor collected another Throwdown in T-Town title on Saturday at the Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park in Oklahoma, as he drove his screw-blown Corvette past Jon Stouffer in the Outlaw Pro Mod final round, 3.59 to a game 3.68. And in Pro Nitrous, Ron Muenks denied track owner Keith Haney of the crown, when he used an .021 to .043 starting line advantage to take a holeshot win, 3.82 to a 3.81.
