Get Balanced: How To Set Up Scales With RJ Race Cars

Proper weight distribution is part of the equation that you need to solve when setting up your racecar for the track. If the vehicle’s weight isn’t positioned where it needs to be, the suspension won’t function properly and the end result is tire spin, tire shake, slower elapsed times, and reduced consistency. In this video from Quarter-Max, we learn how to set up and use Intercomp RFX Wireless scales correctly.

Rickie Jones Jr. and the team at RJ Race Cars know how to build and set up serious racecars — they have produced countless championship-winning, record-setting cars, plus Jones and his father, Rick, tune for the Elite Motorsports Pro Stock teams. Part of what they do is scale cars both at the shop and in the field to make sure they are balanced correctly for maximum power application.

You don’t gain the knowledge base that RJ Race Cars and Quarter-Max has by just selling parts — you need to use them to really understand how they work. Since Quarter-Max sells Intercomp scales it works out perfectly for them to be used in the shop by the RJ team. Getting to use different products in the field like these Intercomp scales allows them to address the needs of customers much easier.

Rickie demonstrates everything a customer needs to know to set up the scales for initial use. After the scales are ready, Rickie walks you through how to properly place the scales under the tires to get the most accurate reading possible. You also get to see how to save specific cars to the scale’s memory.

Make sure you check out the Quarter-Max website and YouTube channel for more information about its wide range of chassis and racing products.
