Product Showcase 2020: ATI 300M 8L90E Output Shaft Now Available

The 8L90E eight-speed transmission has been a pretty robust unit straight from General Motors. It offers a super low First gear that allows for superb performance and a high gear that will still get decent fuel mileage. The only problem is, with all of the different power adders these days, it’s relatively easy to pass the threshold of dependability. And no one wants to break things, especially in the driveline.

If you’re at the limits of your 8L90E transmission, ATI Performance Products has you covered with a host of parts to beef up the factory unit.

ATI’s new 300M 8L90E output shaft (PN 704050) is designed for the C7 Corvettes and ZR1s equipped with the 8L90E transmission. This shaft is a direct replacement for the OEM unit and requires no modifications. However, to replace the part correctly, the transmission needs to be disassembled by a qualified builder.

We reached out to Harvey Baker, Sales Associate of ATI Performance Products, for more information. Baker said, “Too much horsepower and heat will cause the factory 8L90E output shaft to fail. However, 300M offers a very high tensile strength, which provides protection against twisting and failure.”

If you are wondering how much power this shaft can hold, it’s a lot. Baker said, “This output shaft uses the same material as our 3,500 horsepower Turbo 400 output. We don’t have a horsepower rating yet, but it will outlast the rest of the components in the transmission.”

If you’re ready to upgrade your 8L90E transmission, ATI has this product in stock and ready to ship. They also offer rebuild kits, input shafts, coolers, and complete 8L90E high-performance transmission packages.
