Size Matters: How To Measure For An IDIDIT Steering Column

You need to feel comfortable inside your car so you can enjoy driving it and get the most out of the experience. Where you mount the seat plays a pivotal role in how the driving experience will feel, but so does where the steering wheel is located. A new steering column is a great way to improve your driving position, and IDIDIT has put together this great video that shows you how to measure for one of its universal or custom steering columns.

Before you even think about ordering an IDIDIT steering column, you’ll need to have a steering wheel picked out that you want to use. The reason for this is every steering wheel will have a different interface with the column and dish size; both of these will impact your driving position.

After you’ve locked in what steering wheel you plan to use, it’s time to start measuring for a steering column. IDIDIT steering columns are measured from the upper part of the sleeve to the end of the output shaft where it ties into the steering system. The IDIDIT steering columns are offered in column shift, floor shift, and Pro-Fab styles.

The columns have different areas that can be customized based on what style you choose. The transition cone and the wiring slot can be changed to fit your application. Each of the columns has different standard sizes that are available. Basically, IDIDIT can create the perfect steering column for your build.

In this video from IDIDIT, TV show host Kevin Byrd goes over all the options that are available and how you can customize your IDIDIT steering column. Make sure to check out IDIDIT’s website right here to see all of the steering column options offered by the company.
