Video: Cleetus McFarland’s “Mullet” Featured In Latest Gymkhana Film

Newly-minted Top Fuel driver Travis Pastrana recently put his world-class driving skills on full display in the newest edition of Hoonigan’s “Gymkhana” series of automotive-playground films, ripping a purpose-built 862 horsepower Subaru GL wagon with a turbocharged, 2.3-liter boxer engine around the streets of Fort Lauderdale, the Florida Keys, and the Everglades.

The video, for the first time (to our knowledge), featured a brief drag racing segment, starring a Florida resident: Garrett Mitchell, aka Cleetus McFarland, in his familiar 6.4-second, 220-plus mph “Mullet” Chevrolet El Camino.

Pastrana comes sliding up on Mitchell at the 3:20 mark in the 10-and-a-half-minute-long video, and the two blast down the boulevard. Mullet smokes the tires down the road as Pastrana’s wagon pulls away, before Mitchell tracks him down and tosses out the laundry right at the end. Much like the rest of the film, the drag race was likely fully choreographed from start to end, but is nevertheless some great exposure for drag racing to millions of automotive enthusiasts young and old, by a guy with newfound interest in the sport. And that’s a win for all of us.
