Brandon James Unveils New “No Prep Kings” LJRC ’69 Camaro

“Street Outlaws” star Brandon James has taken delivery of his brand new Larry Jeffers Race Cars-built 1969 Chevrolet Camaro for “No Prep Kings” competition. The car, built and finished entirely in house from the ground up, features LJRC’s carbon-fiber one-piece front end, doors, decklid, and bumper, and was painted, wired, and plumbed before it was shipped out the door.

The car sports a Bullet Racing Engines BAE screw-blown Hemi, which is backed up with an M&M Turbo 400 transmission and torque converter combination, leading to a Dynamic Driveline carbon-fiber driveshaft and Quick Performance 10-inch rear gear. It will sit on new RaceStar wheels at all four corners when track-ready.

The Modesto, California native had plenty of racing experience already, competing in nostalgia-style events on the West coast with his father, but he truly became a household name in March of 2021 when, as a virtual unknown, shocked the world by defeating 63 other world-class and famous combatants in Street Outlaws’ first “Mega Cash Days,” earning him $135,000 and fame worth more than the payoff itself. He was then invited to be a key part of the “No Prep Kings” series, doing so in a sleek screw-blown 1967 Nova. In 2022’s season five of the show, James finished 12th in the standings, the highest finishing member of Team Cali. Late in the season, he hinted about the new car, with great hopes of competing for the championship when the new season kicks off in Ohio in May.

The familiar red-and-black Nova, which James raced in the small-tire Cash Days that will air this year on the Discovery Channel, will remain in the stable, earmarked specifically for small-tire racing.
