Inaugural TorqStorm Superchargers Dust Off Drag Race Staged Great Racing in Great Lakes State

When word of the Inaugural TorqStorm Superchargers Dust Off Drag Race powered by Horsepower Depot began to spread, racers and race fans were immediately interested.

The event promised a mix of cars, classes, and close racing, May 9-10 at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan, and it definitely delivered, with an assist from Rollie Miller and his team at FM3 Performance Marketing.

Because of the commitment from the organizers and track staff, the event was presented as though it was in its fifth year rather than its first year. As a bonus, the weather was perfect, and attendees from across the country and Canada are already anticipating next year’s event at the facility known as The Fastest Track in Michigan.

“When Terry Pennington from the Horsepower Depot and Factory Appearing Stock Tire series came to us and told us they would like to partner with us as fellow racers who have a passion for racing and miss the NMCA and NMRA, we knew we wanted to,” said Scott Oshinski, who raced his fan-favorite Cutlass in 8.60 at the event and co-owns title sponsor TorqStorm Superchargers in Wyoming, Michigan, with fellow racer Chris Brooker. “We gathered a team that could pull off a first-year race successfully, and we tried to choose classes that would draw in racers and spectators. We have had a lot of good feedback about this event, and we are looking forward to choosing another May weekend for next year’s event. We might add a couple more classes, like Ultra Street and Nostalgia Super Stock.”

The carefully chosen classes offered outstanding action on the track prepared by 2Prep Track Services, and eliminations were exciting. In Friday Open Comp, Dick Motycka muscled to the win over Jon M. Pickering, and in Saturday Open Comp, Cameron Bowles belted in for the win over David Rickey.

In Big Tire, Craig Sullivan locked up the win over Jimmer Kline, while in Coyote Stock, Chad Stephens wheeled to the win over Frank Paultanis, and in 8.60, Jimmer Kline drove to the win over Brian Acton.

In 10.10, Randy Conway motored to the win over Mike Winters, and in Modern Muscle, Daniel Roock drove to the win over Jimmy Kline.

In Small Tire, Dan Sharp sealed up the win against Keith Schoeltz, and in Ice Screamers, Eric Flitsel flew to the win with Keith Cuttle in the other lane.
