After two days of exceptional on-track qualifying action here at the Street Car Super Nationals Anarchy at the Arch, it’s time to go racing, with eliminations set to roll this evening. As always, a big thanks to Comp Cams for their support of our coverage!
The pit area is quickly filling up here at Gateway, as is the spectator parking and the grandstands as we kick off eliminations this afternoon.
The NDRL nostalgia series and Gateway’s local bracket series are kicking off eliminations today, with the first round of Pro Modified slated for a 6:30 p.m. start time.
Tom McGilton checked off one of his racing goals last night in his stunning Larson Race Cars-built 2014 Camaro, cracking into the sevens with a 7.97 on a test hit. 'I couldn't sleep last night, I was so excited,
Eliminations Round 1 Results & Ladders
Krustey Ramsey recorded low elapsed time of the opening round of Outlaw 8.5, running 4.924. to defeat Matthew Lunsford. Ramsey will take on Jake Gier in the second round.
Mark Luton (left) and Daniel Pharris were the class on the field in the opening round of 315 Radial vs Outlaw 10.5. Luton stepped up to an impressive 4.11 to defeat Sharon Thomas, while Pharris went low for the round with another stout 4.10 at 189 mph on his solo pass. This class is being contested separately based on tire-type until the final, when the last radial and slick tire car will face off for the hardware.
Don Wooton rolled to a 3.67 to oust the twin turbo car of Paul Mouhayet in the opening stanza of Outlaw Pro Mod. Wooton will take on Jon Stouffer in the next round.
Frankie Taylor (left) reeled off the quickest pass of the first round of Outlaw Pro Mod, going 3.65 at 206 mph to down Larry Larson's Chevy S-10. Top qualifier Randall Reid was also right in the thick of the 3.60 battle, going 3.68 to advance. Reid will take on stablemate Brandon Pesz in the next round.
Sidnei Frigo (left) made his best run of the weekend in round one of Pro Modified, a 5.94 at 251, to down Steven Whiteley. Jim Whiteley (right) was also a victim in the first round, dropping his match to Jim Bell, 5.97 to 6.03.
Kevin Fiscus has been the man to beat all weekend in Pro Mod, leading qualifying with his 5.88. Fiscus shut it down early on his competition single in round one, and will face Sidnei Frigo for a trip into the final.
With just two cars in 235 Limited, the first round was also the final. Tony Fergeson, all the way from Wyoming, upset qualifying leader Greg Zerban, going 6.71 at Zerban got into trouble and slowed.
Round 2 Eliminations Results/Ladders
Taylor Lastor scorched his way to a 4.17-second lap in the final round of the 315 radial category to defeat Brandon McBride.
Lastor will have his hands full in the winner-take-all 315 Radial versus Outlaw 10.5 final, as he’ll square off with California native Mark Luton, who cranked off low elapsed time of the race, a 4.07, to defeat Brandon McBride in the Outlaw 10.5 final.
In one of the closest finals of the night on paper, Frankie “the Madman” Taylor took down Randell Reid in the Outlaw Pro Mod final with a stout 3.58. Reid got crossed up a couple hundred feet out and could only watch the Stupid Fast Racing Corvette sail to victory.
Mark Luton (left) scored one for the slick tire racers in the 215 Radial vs Outlaw 10.5 finale, running a 4.08 to down a a slowing Taylor Lastor. Pastor, in two finals and looking for a double-up, came up short in both, also losing the 285 Radial final to Lamar Swindle Jr. (right), 4.64 to a slowing 5.59.
In a battle of teammates, Kevin Fiscus beat Jim Bell on both ends of the racetrack in the Pro Mod final, 5.94 to a 5.99.
Krusty Ramsey was dead-late in the Outlaw 8.5 final, and it cost him in his bid to repeat as champion of this race, as Jason Collins scored an upset victory in his ’66 Nova, a 4.93 defeating a quicker 4.91.
