The ODRA is a new racing organization that was founded late last year. As anyone knows the racing business can be a tough one, especially from the promoters stand point. ODRA was founded to offer a different type of racing experience for racers and fans alike. They have a six race schedule on the books for 2010 and kicked off their inaugural race this past weekend at I22 Motorsports Park. The “Easter Bunny Blowout” had anything from Outlaw Pro Mod to 7.0 Index and from the looks of things it was a successful event.

With over 40 entrants in seven classes there was plenty of excitement to go around. The winners went at it hard and surely earned it their victories as they traversed the I22 eighth mile. In Outlaw Pro Mod it was Bill Clanton picking up the win in his blown pro mod over Jeff Byrd who was number one qualifier. Jeff Cooner showed up in his beautiful true ten five Mustang and went point to point for his win over Keith Szabo in the finals. Cooner ran consistent 4.60’s to take the win in the Outlaw True Ten Five class. Kevin Schrimsher picked up the win in Ultimate Street in his Mustang that is a brilliant shade of orange. In the remaining Index classes it was Scott Underwood winning in 4.70, a driver only to be known as “Russell” winning 5.30, Gumby Gaston won 6.0 Index and Jeremy Miner wrapped up the win in 7.0.
Unfortunately it will be a few hard hits that will show up in the highlight reels for this past weekends event. The hardest hit of the weekend was Mitch aka Excelerator over on YellowBullet as he tore up his Chevrolet Malibu. Shortly after he left the starting line the rear end washed out and he went head on into the wall. The damage to the car is extensive but Mitch is fine other than being a bit sore. As the racing family is he has already had an out pouring of support and offers for parts to help him rebuild.
Lastly it was the “Thrillbilly” Shane Stack doing just as he loves to do. He wowed the crowd with a huge wheelstand and was throwing sparks off of the parachute mount for quite a wasy down track. Stack wheeld the car but it veered to the right and came into contact with the wall. Fortunatley for Shane and his crew the damage was not that bad and they will be back on track in a few weeks.
