
In a move that is sure to catch many by surprise, long time nitrous racer Don Long has done the unthinkable and put a Procharged combo in Amanda’s S197 Mustang. After struggling with various issues since the car’s debut and having no real luck with the nitrous sniffing Chemi power plant, it certainly was a shock for us when we heard the news from an un-named source last night. After getting on YellowBullet.com I did see some vague posts indicating that was indeed the case a quick trip to Amanda’s Fans of Puddin Racing facebook page confirmed it.
The engine it self is the Brodix block and Big Duke headed 615 ci. big block Chevy from the Sanders/Rackley ride, which brushed the wall back in February’s Night the Lights Went Out race at SGMP. Instead of twin turbos however, the car was fitted with an F3-R Procharger, with fabrication being done at Robert Coady’s Category 5 Race Cars in just ten days. Steve Petty will be on hand working his magic on the laptop for Thursday’s pre race test session. We will be on site around noon Thursday to begin this weekend’s coverage of the ORTC’s first Boost vs. No Boost event of 2010.
Just recently at the Holcomb Motorsports Civil Wars Amanda broke into the seven second zone to become the only female Drag Radial racer to do so. There were also seen there running on slicks in what some have charged was a publicity stunt, though in reality it was an effort to try and get down the track on a loose surface as the prep was geared more toward the Mountain Motor Pro Mods there, and not the tight surface the radial tires prefer.
