Veteran Pro Modified competitor Mike Janis is set to debut his brand new Aeroquip-backed 2010 Mustang at this weekends NHRA Supernationals in the Get Screened American Pro Mod Challenge at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ – his home race on the NHRA tour. Janis’ new mount recently rolled out of the Dan Page Race Cars shop in Hampstead, NH, and the Jan-Cen team are at Atco Raceway in Atco, NJ today putting the car through its paces before heading down the road to Englishtown for its maiden outing. Page also built Mike’s 1968 Firebird, which has been sold.
Janis’ cars have always been well known for eye-catching paint schemes, and this one will be no different. Back in March, Janis, along with sponsors Aeroquip, Eaton, and Jan-Cen, conducted a contest that allowed fans to design the new paint scheme to adorn the teams’ new Mustang Pro Modified. Peter Walters earned $500 for his winning submission that included an Aeroquip hose and fitting in the sleek design. In addition, Janis’
trademark“Widowmaker” spider makes its return and will adorn the hood. The complete transformation of the teams’ new look will be complete by the Norwalk event in two weeks, with new uniforms, firesuit, and trailer graphics to match the paint scheme.
Mike currently sits 12th in the NHRA Pro Modified points standing on the heels of a runner-up finish at the last event in Commerce, GA.
