It’s been a rather busy winter for many of Neal Chance Racing Converters top customers. And a successful one at that. Several of the top torque converter-equipped doorslammer racers in the business have nailed down wins and top qualifying performances at popular wintertime destinations, highlighted most recently by Mel Nelson’s dominant performance at the U.S. Street Nationals in Bradenton, Florida.

Following a highly successful 2010 season culminated with the World Street Nationals Drag Radial crown, Nelson busted off a win at his first race of the new year. Nelson’s Camaro garnered top qualifying honors with a stout 4.549 at 173.41 and continued to pounce on his opponents with 4.5-second clockings before slowing to “just” a 4.60 in the money round to take down Tony Ridenour. Also in Bradenton. Outlaw 10,5 racer Rob Wells earned the second qualifying seed with a 4.28 and settled for runner-up honors after illuminating the red light in the final.

At the annual SHRA Tomato Nationals in Ommokalee, Florida, Drag Radial ace Clint Lonon powered his way to the X-Treme 275 winners circle, beginning his weekend atop the field with a 5.08 and besting Jeff Wallace for all the marbles. Meanwhile, in an all-NCRC Outlaw 10.5 final round, newcomer Candido Sanchez and his twin turbo Camaro took down Robert Rojas to earn his first win in the class in his first attempt.

Back in early December, Ronnie Davis, Rob Wells, and Carlton Thompson all walked away from the Snowbird Nationals victorious in Automatic Pro Mod, Outlaw 10.5, and Drag Radial, respectively, to kick off a stellar winter for Neal Chance Racing Converters.
