
NMCA Super Street competitor and race car insurance magnate Bill Lutz is inching closer to the long-awaited debut of a Pro Modified-style 1969 Camaro, which he’ll campaign alongside his familiar Super Street and Outlaw 10.5 ’69 with a nearly identical engine and drivetrain combination.
These are some of the first images of Lutz’s machine, which formerly belonged to Jason Hamstra and was run in ADRL Pro Extreme competition with a screw supercharger protruding from the hood. The car was crashed by Hamstra in Topeka last summer and underwent repairs at Scott Braskett Race Cars in Ohio before Lutz’ acquisition. Since that time, Lutz and company have been hard at work preparing both cars for the new season.
Although the original gameplan called for duty in the ADRL’s Extreme 10.5 eliminator, those plans have been shelved for now. Instead, Bill will line the twin-turbocharged, Hemi-powered monster of a Camaro up alongside the big tire cars in NMCA Super Street and other venues with the “small” 10.5W tires between the fenders.
Bill and his team are hoping to have the new car completed and on the racetrack within the next three weeks, making a debut at the NMCA event in Maryland or at the Super Bowl in Chicago a distinct possibility. Like many of our readers, we can’t wait to see this car hit the ground running.
