Not that Frank Manzo’s incredible driving resume needed any more padding, but on Monday afternoon, the veteran driver and tuner simply known as “Ace” added another historic accomplishment to his mile-long list of accolades, becoming the winningest driver in Mac Tools U.S. Nationals history with a record 10th victory in Top Alcohol Funny Car. Manzo was tied with the legendary Bob Glidden at nine wins at the Big Go before sealing the deal on Monday with a final round defeat of first-time finalist Fred Tigges.

Manzo, honored in 2001 as #40 on NHRA’s All-Time Top Driver’s List, qualified No. 1 at the 57th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals with a 5.559-second, 259.91 mph effort, and defeated Brent Henry, Cassie Simonton, and John Lombardo Jr. before meeting Tigges in the money round. His crushing second round elapsed time of 5.469 seconds at 264.34 marked not only a new track record, but one of the quickest passes of all-time.

With the win, Manzo scored the 94th national event win of his illustrious career, and continued his unbelievable streak of wins when appearing in national event final rounds, which stands at 34 races dating back to the 2006 Winternationals.
