Bahrain B1 Racing will have not one, but two Pro Extreme entries at this weekend’s ADRL Dragstock VIII at the Rockingham Dragway in Rockingham, NC – the second of which will be piloted by longtime and renowned Pro Modified chassis builder and driver Tommy Mauney.

Mauney will join Joshua Hernandez, who pilots a Pro Extreme Corvette for the B1 team, to shake down a new first-gen Camaro entry before B1 driver Ali Aryan takes over the driving controls. Aryan competed in the Arabian Drag Racing League series last winter. Needless to say, Mauney is excited at the prospect of getting back behind the wheel for a weekend.
“I am so excited and really honored that Sheikh Abdulla Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Rick Hickman and the rest of the B1 team has the confidence in me and my driving abilities to put me in the car,” Mauney said in an ADRL release. “This car will be driven by Ali Aryan in the near future and the team wants to get some data on the car and get it on the track under race conditions. Rick Hickman asked me to come to Rockingham and drive this car, and I think it’s just quite a honor for me as a driver, and as the chassis builder.”
Mauney is considered among the legends of heads-up doorslammer racing, having been part of the Pro Modified movement from it’s very onset and winning the 1995 IHRA Pro Modified title, along with countless other wins and championships as a chassis builder. And his presence in the Pro Extreme field certainly adds to what is already expected to be the ADRL’s most exciting event of the season.
