The NHRA and JEGS Mail Order today announced the formation of the JEGS Allstars Top Alcohol Regional Team Championship that will begin with the 2013 running of the annual JEGS Allstars competition held at the Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Ill.
Much in the way that the JEGS Allstars has been structured for Top Alcohol racers in the past and remains to be for competitors in all other
sportsman categories, Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car competitors will represent their home regions against representatives from the other three geographic regions. The four regions are East, West, North Central, and Central.
Each JEGS Allstars regional team will include the top two points earners in both Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car from each region, with the reigning Allstars champion earning an automatic birth as one of the two representatives from their respective region.
“With the new NHRA regional format for the top alcohol classes we needed to come up with something to keep them a part of the Team Championship which is such a big part of the JEGS Allstars program,” said Scott Woodruff, director of media and motorsports, JEGS. “This new addition to the program combines both the Team Championship along with exciting competition for both the racers and the fans.”
The 28th annual JEGS Allstars program will take place on June 30 at Route 66 Raceway during the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series event. The competition features both standalone and team championship battles amongst all seven divisions in both Top Alcohol categories, Competition Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Top Dragster, and Top Sportsman.
