With some of the toughest names in the business running Neal Chance Racing Converters in their machines, it’s all but a given that the wins, records, and other accolades are going to come in droves, and with the summer now in full swing and the racing season tipping the halfway point for many racers, those awards are beginning to rack up.

Joey Martin and the popular “Lowmad” recently scored a win at the I22 Dragway in the Fast 8 category, qualifying No. 3 and flat outrunning Tim Segars in the final round, 4.03 to a 4.13. Martin and company then followed up that performance with an encore at the U.S. 43 Dragway in Tennessee, qualifying No. 1 at 4.01-seconds and carding a best of 3.94 at 187.34 mph in a semifinal defeat of R.E. Smith later in the evening. In the final round, Martin reeled off a 3.99 paired with a killer .003 reaction time to down John Sullivan with authority.

NHRA Top Sportsman competitor Barry Daniluk collected his third Wally trophy last weekend at the NHRA Division 6 meet in Spokane, carrying the hardware back home to Red Deer, Alberta, Canada after enduring qualifying No. 1 at 6.56 and enduring five hard-fought rounds of eliminations, including a final round bout with Tom Burke. As a side note, Daniluk’s naturally aspirated Camaro has been as quick as 6.33-seconds.

Elsewhere in the doorslammer racing world, second generation racer T.J. Kasper cruised through victory lane once again at “Super Fast Saturday” at New Jersey’s Atco Raceway just a couple of weeks ago. Driving the former Tim Lynch twin-turbocharged Mustang, Kasper defeated Larry Wood in the semifinals with a 4.27 to set up an all-Neal Chance final round with Mo Hall. Hall got a great advantage out of the gate, but slowed while Kasper rolled to a 4.37-second, 190.06 mph (top speed of the event) victory lap.

X275 racer Bob Bales earned the coveted Texas vs. The World event at Dallas Raceway in early June, uncorking consistent 4.90’s and 5.0’s on the hot, tricky racing surface. Running on the small 275 radials for the very first time, Bales qualified No. 1 and won the event in his Pontiac Firebird.
