After a tumultuous start to the new season with the testing of a twin turbocharged engine combination before switching back to the trusty screw-blown setup, Frankie “The Madman” Taylor and company have been on quite a roll of late, putting together one of their finer outings Saturday at the ADRL’s inaugural visit to ZMAX Dragway.

Taylor and new teammate Tim Tindle, both of whom receive support from our good friends at Davis Technologies, swept the competition in Pro Extreme at the ninth rendition of Dragstock — the ADRL’s oldest and most prestigious event.
Taylor, the former series champion, led off qualifying with a stout 3.713 and was only headed when fellow class champ Jason Scruggs grabbed the provisional No. 1 in the second session, but Taylor rallied back to lead the field into eliminations with his track record 3.665. Tindle, a veteran in the ultra-quick doorslammer wars who joined the Taylor squad earlier this year, was just two spots back at 3.684.
Unfortunately, “The Madman” never got the chance to take the tree in the opening stanza when he was shut off with fluids underneath his race car, handing richard Holt his first-ever round win. But that beauty of a second car is that you get two shots at victory — and that’s just what Floridian Tim Tindle did.
Tindle mowed down John Stanley, points leader Mick Snyder, Terry Leggett, and Quain Stott in the money round to earn his first ADRL victory, although it came at a cost as he popped the supercharger in the lights.
Following Dragstock IX, Tindle currently sits sixth in the Pro Extreme standings, while Taylor is down in 13th, clawing his way back to the top after a sluggish start.
