Defending NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster champion Duane Shields announced today during the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis a new major sponsorship agreement with Old World Industries and its PEAK Motor Oil brand.

The Boulder City, Nev. native, who competes on the NHRA’s East Region Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, will display the PEAK Motor Oil logo as the primary sponsor his A/Fuel Dragster for the remainder of the 2012 NHRA season and beyond. Other brands in the Old World Industries lineup, including PEAK antifreeze, Herculiner Truck Bed Liners, Blue DEF Diesel Exhaust Fluid, and FINAL Charge Heavy duty Truck Antifreeze will also have a presence on the car as part of the team’s marketing efforts. Old World joins Shields’ current crop of associate sponsors that include GRP Connecting Rods, NGK Spark Plugs, Molinari Race Products, Sierra Ice and Shortline Markets.

Shields currently sits seventh in the Top Alcohol Dragster national standings and sixth in the East region, with six national and five regional/divisional events accumulated thus far.

Some rumors have mentioned Shield’s desire to go Top Fuel racing in the not-too distant future, and with Old World Industries current involvement with the Zizzo Motorsports dragster of driver T.J. Zizzo, perhaps we could see a two-car team materialize at some point? We’ll have to wait and see.
