No Mercy III: Same day coverage from South Georgia. Texas native Kyle Huettel, in his 900-plus cubic inch Camaro, clocked low ET of the event at 4.30-seconds and put together a string of 4.3-second runs in eliminations to seal the Radial vs. The World title at South Georgia Motorsports Park, besting Frank Soldridge in an incredibly tight 4.35 to 4.36 final. In X275, Rich Bruder put together another dominating performance in his Mustang, running a 4.62 in the final to Dustin Mewbourn’s distant 4.81. Outlaw 10.5 kingpin Tim Lynch won Outlaw 10.5 with a great 4.21 in the final over Mike Kyger’s 4.69, and Bryan Marrow took the Leaf Spring title with a fine 4.76 in the money round.
NHRA: Race recap and Photo Gallery from St. Louis. Perfect, record-breaking weather conditions and spectacular crowds greeted the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series as it made its long-awaited return to the Gateway Motorsports Park after a one-year hiatus from the schedule. Top Fuel points leader Antron Brown maintained his position in fine order, edging second-place Spencer Massey in the final round. Jack Beckman, who qualified No. 1 in Funny Car, edged out Matt Hagan in another all-DSR final, while Erica Enders made a move to third in the points standings after turning the tables on Allen Johnson – who defeated her last week in Dallas – on a 6.54 to 6.53 holeshot. Eddie Krawiec scored yet another victory in an all-Harley Pro Stock Motorcycle final, and Troy Coughlin notched his first career Pro Modified victory with a final round defeat of Danny Rowe. ADRL: Bob Rahaim inched closer to the Pro Nitrous title with his victory Saturday night at the ADRL Summit Racing Equipment Ohio Drags VI in Norwalk, after he defeated Stan Allen in the final. Alex Hossler sailed to the Pro Extreme title with a narrow win over Tim Tindle, while feisty veteran Billy Glidden stole one on a holeshot in the Extreme 10.5 final, 3.93 to Alan Pittman’s 3.89. Eric McKinney was perhaps the biggest winner of them all, scoring the event win and securing the Pro Extreme Motorcycle championship in the process. NHRA Division 2: Joe Santangelo (Super Stock), Donnie Carroll (Stock), Brad Plourd (Super Comp), and Leland Poppell (Super Street) were the winners crowned at the penultimate stop on the NHRA Southeast division trail at the Bristol Dragway, as the remaining finals were postponed due to safety concerns over plummeting track temperatures. NHRA Division 7 ET Finals: Zach Meziere scored the Super Pro title Sunday in Bakersfield, Calif., driving to the division crown over Marc Power. Mike Spellman did likewise in Pro, running dead-on the dial in the final to oust Dwayne Opperman. The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway earned the overall team championship two days in a row.
