X-DRL: Same day coverage from Gateway. Bob Rahaim ran low elapsed time of the race on a solo run in the Pro Nitrous final at the Gateway Showdown in St. Louis on Saturday afternoon, scorching the track with a 3.84-second pass to earn his first series victory. Likewise, Todd Hoerner claimed his second win in a row at the facility near St. Louis in X-Treme Pro Stock, taking a huge holeshot win over the quicker Dean Goforth in the final round. Kevin Rivernbark earned his first win in X-Treme Pro Mod, parlaying a big advantage out of the gate into a holeshot win, 3.92 to 3.91. In Pro Turbo, Todd Moyer downed teammate Mike Murillo. The Pro X-Treme final between Tim Tindle and Brandon Pesz was the only matchup that went uncontested when rain and storms arrived in St. Louis and will be run at the next event in Maryland. NHRA: Event Recap and Detailed Race Wrap. John Force broke a 31-race winless streak on Sunday at the Ford NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at the Bristol Dragway as he defeated his longtime nemesis Cruz Pedregon in the Funny Car final. Steve Torrence marched his way back in victory lane in Top Fuel for the first time this season and first with new crew chief Lee Beard as he downed fellow Texan Spencer Massey in the final round, 3.87 to 3.89. In another all-Texas final, Rodger Brogdon earned his first professional victory as he edged out Erica Enders-Stevens in the money round. NMRA: Phil Hines took down Jason Lee in a great Street Outlaw final in the NMRA’s visit to the Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk over the weekend. Hines edged out the better-leaving Lee, 7.35 to 7.40. In Renegade, Brian Mitchell defeated a slowing Scott Grove, while Shane Stymeist virtually dominated the Coyote Stock field for the victory in his 1990 Mustang. NHRR: Jim Murphy was the big winner in Nostalgia Top Fuel at the National Hot Rod Reunion at the Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Ky. on Sunday, as he downed Denver Schutz in a great 5.80 to 5.81 finale. NHRA Division 1: John Finke put together a nice 5.48 to earn the Top Alcohol Dragster crown at the NHRA Northeast Division meet at New York’s Lebanon Valley Dragway as opponent Jackie Fricke had problems and slowed. NHRA Division 5: Reigning national champion Jim Whitely scored another Top Alcohol Dragster win over the weekend at the Bandimere Speedway, defeating Greg Hunter in the final with a nice 5.47. He was joined in victory lane by Tony Bartone, who claimed Top Alcohol Funny honors after winning a final round battle of the heavyweights with Jay Payne, 5.80 to 5.95. NHRA Division 6: The Northwest Division rounded out the busy weekend of Lucas Oil Series action at the Mission Raceway in Mission, B.C., as Ray Martin took a 5.52 to 5.64 final round win over Greg Serada in Top Alcohol Dragster. Steve Gasparelli won in Top Alcohol Funny Car for the second year in a row at Mission, besting Brian Hough, 572 to 5.74, in the final. In Competition Eliminator, Brandon Huhtala was better off the line and further under the index to earn the win over Joe Roubicek. For results from Mission, log on to NHRADiv6.com.
IHRA Division 4: Ed Smith and Leslie Dugas were the day one winners in Top Dragster and Top Sportsman, respectively, at the IHRA Renegades Division 4 meet at the Memphis International Raceway.
