Chad Green scored his first NHRA Funny Car national event victory at the historic In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip during the 2023 NHRA In-N-Out World Finals. Now, Green returns to the same facility as the current points leader, looking to add another chapter to his growing legacy at one of drag racing’s most iconic venues.

Green enters the NHRA Winternationals with significant momentum behind the wheel of his 12,000-horsepower CGM Bond-Coat Ford Mustang Funny Car. A victory at the season-opening NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville marked not only a powerful start to the 2026 campaign, but also his second consecutive win at the Florida facility. That performance immediately positioned Green as a serious contender for the NHRA Mission World Championship.

“Obviously, the Gatornationals win was a great way to start the 2026 season,” said Green. “Our crew did a great job during the off-season preparing our cars and parts for a good start to the racing tour. We have had some tricky tracks at Gainesville and Phoenix with very hot conditions. That won’t be the case at Pomona, and I believe we are ready to get back to cooler weather and strong runs.

“We missed a little bit at Phoenix with our setup, but we know what happened. We are prepared with my Bond-Coat car and Blake’s (Alexander) Pronto Auto Services car now. We tested earlier this year, and I think we learned a few things that will help us for the Pomona race. I’m anxious to hit the track on Friday.”

Few tracks on the NHRA circuit carry the same level of prestige and opportunity as Pomona. For Green, it’s also a place of proven success. His breakthrough win in 2023 helped establish him as a legitimate Funny Car contender, and returning to that same surface as the points leader adds another layer of confidence heading into race weekend.

With cooler weather conditions expected compared to the scorching track temperatures seen earlier in the season, teams are anticipating faster, more consistent runs, something that plays directly into Green’s strengths.

Beyond Green’s individual performance, Chad Green Motorsports (CGM) continues to show growth as a multi-car operation. Veteran driver Blake Alexander returns for his second season with the team, bringing experience and consistency to the Pronto Auto Services-backed Funny Car. After a 2025 season that included a runner-up finish and multiple semifinal appearances, Alexander is looking to build momentum in 2026.

“It is great to be back with CGM this year and to see Chad win the Gatornationals again,” said Alexander. “The conditions for my first race at Phoenix were tough with track temperatures near 150 degrees. We have never seen track surface temps that high before. Luckily, the Winternationals will have cooler conditions, and we have a good setup for that type of weather.

“The crew has worked hard over the winter, and you have seen Chad’s car run consistently and quick already. We are working together with the two crews this year, and we have seen good performance in the early races. I’m ready for a strong run at Pomona now.”

If history is any indication, Pomona might once again be the place where Green delivers when it matters most. A strong showing at the Winternationals could provide a critical springboard as the season progresses toward the NHRA In-N-Out World Finals in November, ironically, the same event and track where his Funny Car career reached its first major milestone.
