If you want to understand just how tight NHRA Pro Mod competition has become, all you had to do was watch the final round at zMAX Dragway. Mike Stavrinos delivered one of the most exciting finishes of the weekend at the 16th Annual NHRA 4-Wide Nationals, using a razor-sharp reaction time to secure his first win of the 2026 season in the JBS Equipment NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by Elite Motorsports.
In a final quad packed with heavy hitters, Stavrinos relied on precision at the starting line to edge out No. 1 qualifier Justin Bond in a finish decided by just nine-thousandths of a second. Driving his Al-Anabi Performance Camaro, Stavrinos posted a 5.669-second run at 253.56 mph in the final round, but the number that mattered most was .016. That reaction time proved to be the difference-maker.
Bond, fresh off a win in Phoenix, actually ran quicker with a 5.658 at 253.66 mph. But Stavrinos’ starting-line advantage allowed him to hold on for the victory in one of the closest Pro Mod finishes of the season.
“Usually when I win one of things I’m pretty calm, but today I’m amped up,” Stavrinos said. “This team puts so much dedication into this hot rod, and I couldn’t do it without them. There are so many people to thank, and I’m just so happy to be taking this one home.”
The win marks Stavrinos’ fourth career victory in NHRA Pro Mod competition and his first of the 2026 campaign.
While Stavrinos celebrated the win, Justin Bond’s runner-up finish still carried major implications. Bond moved into the Pro Mod points lead with his performance, continuing a strong start to the 2026 season after his Phoenix victory. With just three of 11 events completed in the Pro Mod season, the battle for the title is beginning to take shape, and it’s clear that multiple contenders are capable of winning on any given weekend.
The JBS Equipment NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by Elite Motorsports now shifts its focus to the NHRA Southern Nationals, scheduled for May 1–3 at South Georgia Motorsports Park.
