The Mickey Thompson Turn & Burn, presented by Summit Racing Equipment and powered by Sick the Magazine May 5-9, might just be one of the most unique motorsports events of the year. Built around the iconic Summit Motorsports Park, this event is an experience that blends high-performance competition with fan-focused entertainment in a way that pushes the boundaries of what a drag racing event can be.
The growth of drag-and-drive racing has been amazing, and Turn & Burn takes that proven formula and adds its own twist. Competitors will still hit public roads between checkpoints, putting their builds to the ultimate test, but they won’t be hitting a different track each day. They will make all of their laps at Summit Motorsports Park when they’re not cruising the Ohio roads.

After the opening day at Summit Motorsports Park, racers will head out on a route that’s anything but ordinary. One stop takes them to the historic Mansfield Reformatory, famous as the filming location for The Shawshank Redemption. From there, the action continues at Akron Derby Downs, where drivers will trade horsepower for gravity and compete in Soap Box Derby races. The route then swings through Summit Racing Equipment before returning to Summit Motorsports Park for more racing action.
Turn & Burn is bringing out some of the biggest names in drag-and-drive.Heavy hitters like Alex Taylor, Tom Bailey, Dave Schroeder, Jeff Lutz, Jon Moore, and the Diehl brothers are all expected to be part of the action. Add in appearances from personalities like Mike Finnegan, who’s bringing fan-favorite builds like Stubby Bob, the Stripper Limo, and his ’98 GMC Sierra shop truck, and you’ve got an event packed with star power.

While the on-track action will be the centerpiece, Turn & Burn is designed to be a full-scale motorsports festival. Fans can expect racing simulators, vendor midway displays, an off-road RC course, live music, meet-and-greets with drivers, and a fireworks show that echoes the energy of Summit’s famous Night Under Fire.
It’s that blend of racing and entertainment that sets this event apart. Whether you’re there for the competition or just the atmosphere, there’s something happening at every turn.
At its core, Turn & Burn captures what makes drag-and-drive so appealing: real cars, real miles, and real racers pushing their machines to the limit. And at a facility like Summit Motorsports Park, the stage couldn’t be any bigger.
