Jay Zolko stolen carThieves have struck the drag racing community once again, as we received word today that Pennsylvania racer Leonard Long’s gorgeous 1999-2004 Mustang GT-bodied machine was stolen from the G-Force Transmissions facility in Cleona, Pa. between Harrisburg and Reading sometime between three and four in the morning early Tuesday.

Long’s Mustang is a sharp Grabber Blue color with a forward-facing hood scoop, and is equipped with Bogart racing wheels and 16-inch wide slicks on the rear. The engine is a Roush-Yates small block Ford with the name “Stukart” engraved in the valve covers. The car also has a manual transmission installed. Long competes with the Pro Stick organization for manual transmission cars in the Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia area.

The white, dual-axle trailer has a Pennsylvania license plate, “XHE-5549”, and has a still-visible (albeit previously removed) Thunderbird 427 FE engine logo decal on the side. The car and trailer were hooked up and driven away by what security cameras in the area are believed to show as a dark colored GMC Envoy or similar vehicle with a plate containing a final digit of “6”. Authorities believe the vehicle was registered in New Jersey, and may have been headed to the Pennsylvania Turnpike toward Philadelphia. Security camera footage from a toll booth on the Turnpike has reportedly shown the truck and trailer passing through the area, potentially confirming the direction that the vehicle is traveling.

Anyone with information regarding the theft is urged to call Leonard Long at 717-228-8410. The drag racing community, albeit spread around the world, is a tight-knit group that doesn’t take kindly to race car thievery, and we certainly hope it comes through once again for a racer in need.
