NHRA: Race Recap and Dragzine’s Race Photo Gallery. Carding his first career three-second pass to pace qualifying and earning a decisive final round win over Chad Head, John Force charged into the Funny Car points lead at the fourth of six races in the NHRA Countdown, the Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway on Sunday. Jeg Coughlin Jr. also took over the points lead in Pro Stock with his 6.61 to 6.58 holeshot defeat of teammate Allen Johnson. Shawn Langdon extended his lead in Top Fuel to 83 points with a win over back-to-back finalist Antron Brown, and Matt Smith scored his second straight in Pro Stock Motorcycle, downing Eddie Krawiec, 6.93 to 6.96, to also extend his lead over the field. Shakedown at the Summit: Same Day Event Coverage and Photo Extra. An ominous weather forecast played out over the inaugural Shakedown at the Summit at the Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk over the weekend, wreaking havoc on the event schedule and ultimately forcing officials to cancel the remainder of the event on Sunday morning. Two rounds of eliminations were completed late Saturday evening into Sunday morning in many classes, and the purses were split between the remaining contestants in each category. Dave Hance (Outlaw Pro Mod), Richard Sexton (Outlaw 10.5), Frank Mewshaw (Limited Street), Martin Connelley (X275), and Mike Murillo (Heavy Street) were among the qualifying leaders.
NHRA Division 4: Aaron Tatum defeated an up-in-smoke James Stevens in Top Alcohol Dragster to score the win at the NHRA South Central division season finale at the Thunder Valley Raceway in Oklahoma over the weekend. NMRA: Same Day Event Coverage. Like Norwalk, the NMRA World Finals in Bowling Green, Ky. was plagued by rain all weekend long, ultimately forcing series officials to postpone final eliminations to today. Phil Hines (Street Outlaw), Adam Arndt (Renegade), Jacob Lamb (Coyote Stock), and Matt Amrine (Factory Stock) led heads-up qualifying.
PSCA: Paja Agatonivic earned the win in Outlaw 10.5 at the PSCA’s West Coast Shootout in Las Vegas over the weekend, defeating Troy Cafaro in the final. David Singletary defeated No. 1 qualifier Norman Chang in the XDR/TT5 final, while Bryan Cobbett ousted Ryan Bell in the Hot Street finale, 8.48 to 8.71. Artis Houston took Wild Street honors from the pole position, and Scott Bieschke won Outlaw 8.5 in an off-pace final, 6.12 to 6.15. For additional results, visit the PSCA website.
