r3NMCA: Same Day Coverage from Indianapolis. Steve Summers all but dominated the Pro Street division on his way to back-to-back Indy wins on Sunday evening, qualifying second and running a pair of 5.87-second runs in eliminations to reset the national elapsed time and speed records on his way to a final round win over Billy Glidden. Octogenarian Willard Kinzer in a new (to him) twin-turbo Mustang, marched past a record-quick field of Super Street 10.5W racers to claim his first win of the season, besting Mark Woodruff’s Corvette in the final, 6.57 to 6.69. Dave Beeson carded a barrage of low 7.20’s on his way to victory in Nostalgia Pro Street, and Dwayne Barbaree ousted a stout field in Street Outlaw, laying down a weekend-best 7.09 in the final to defeat newly-crowned class champion Phil Hines.

Mark Carlyle shattered the LSX Drag Radial records at the LSX Challenge in Indianapolis as part of the NMCA World Street Finals, scorching the quarter-mile to the tune of a 6.69 at 217 mph in qualifying. Carlyle and his familiar twin-turbo Corvette were never headed on race day, earning the victory with a stout 6.82 in the final. Judson Massingill racked up another LSX All Motor title with his SAM Racing Camaro, as he qualified No. 1 and took a break single in the final. Kevin Rounsavall was also victorious, taking his ’99 Camaro to the Real Street crown with a pair of stout eight-teen runs, including an 8.12 in the final to defeat Rodney Massengale.
