Jonathan Allegrucci is quickly turning the 2026 Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown season into a statement campaign. The points leader continued his dominant start to the year by capturing his second consecutive national event victory at the Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals presented by PEAK. Driving his Ford Mustang Cobra Jet, Allegrucci defeated teammate and defending event winner Jason Dietsch in an all-Ford final round at Route 66 Raceway.
After winning in Charlotte, Allegrucci entered Chicago carrying momentum, confidence, and the Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown bounty target on his back. He left Illinois with another diamond Wally trophy, an extended points lead, and even more momentum as the championship battle heats up.
Jonathan Allegrucci Delivers Another Clutch Performance
The final round was a rematch of the Charlotte championship showdown, and once again, Allegrucci found a way to come out on top. When the Christmas Tree activated, Allegrucci delivered a massive starting line advantage with a razor-sharp .025 reaction time compared to Dietsch’s .088. That quick launch proved to be the difference in a thrilling side-by-side race.
Allegrucci powered his Ford Mustang Cobra Jet to a 7.711-second pass at 178.68 mph, narrowly defeating Dietsch’s slightly quicker 7.710-second run at 178.12 mph on a holeshot victory. The win marked Allegrucci’s third career Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown victory and extended his championship lead to 72 points over Raymond Nash.
“I gave my Charlotte Wally to Kimmy Mapes Jr., he deserved it,” said Allegrucci. “He puts his heart and soul into this racecar. He builds the motor with his own hands, he tunes the car, he knows every inch of the car like the back of his hand, it’s his car, and I am lucky enough to drive it. I definitely wanted to win again to get another one of these diamond Wallys. I am going to hang onto this one for sure.”
Consistency Powers Allegrucci’s Chicago Victory

One of the biggest keys to Allegrucci’s Route 66 Raceway success was consistency. Throughout eliminations, the Mustang Cobra Jet was nearly automatic, posting elapsed times of 7.709, 7.706, and 7.718 seconds before the final round. That repeatability gave the team confidence heading into the championship matchup against the always-dangerous Dietsch.
“These guys have these Mustangs running like nothing else,” said Allegrucci. “The team puts the time in, and it shows. Jason’s car is always fast. Normally, it’s a couple hundredths faster than ours, but we’re working on ours too. We are starting to close that gap. We knew it would come down to getting off the line and the tune-up. To win these races, you need the whole ball of wax.”
Allegrucci defeated Kim Shirley, Doug Duell, and Raymond Nash on his path to victory before taking down Dietsch in the final round.
Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown Bounty Grows Again
With the victory, Allegrucci successfully defended the Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown bounty program, doubling the prize to $2,000 for the next NHRA national event. As the current points leader, Allegrucci has become the target every Factory Stock competitor wants to beat, but so far, the Pennsylvania racer and his team continue delivering under pressure.
“Kimmy and I keep a logbook like no other, and we go back on notes and read the weather,” said Allegrucci. “The way the car is running really gives us confidence in knowing what we can and can’t do. This race was a really strong weekend for us, and we are glad we held onto the bounty. I hope I keep it for a few more races.”
With two straight victories, a growing points lead, and the bounty still intact, Allegrucci has firmly established himself as the driver everyone will be chasing as the 2026 NHRA season continues.
